Dr. N. Vedachalam

Dr. N. Vedachalam is Former Director of Liquid Propulsion Systems Center (LPSC), ISRO. He is also an Padma Shri award recipient in 2003 for his outstanding contributions to Science and Engineering. He is a Launch Vehicle system expert. Before joining to ISRO, he worked for four years in Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad, specializing in the development of an Anti Tank Missile Gyroscope. Dr. N. Vedachalam was recruited in ISRO by Dr. Vikram Sarabhai in 1969.

He has the privilege of working along with the Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, Prof. Satish Dhawan, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam while in ISRO. During his 35 years of career in ISRO he held several positions (1) Group Director, Navigation Guidance Control Group (2) Programme Director, Inertial System Laboratory (3) Founder and Director, ISRO Inertial System Unit, Thiruvananthapuram (4) Director,Liquid Propulsion Systems Center (LPSC) (2000-2005). He has directed the development of the ISRO Cryogenic Upper Stage for GSLV and responsible for successful testing of the first Cryogenic Engine of India for 1000 seconds. Due to his expertise, he is still being consulted by ISRO, DRDO, ministry of HRD, ministry of defence, NPCIL. We are proud to have him as a co-founder of Bharath Space Vehicle (BSV).
